Palletizing line for cans and cases in canneries

The TACORE palletizing line completes the cannery process by stacking sealed cans, finished canned goods or cardboard cases onto pallets ready for storage or dispatch. It can work with an automatic layer palletizer or a robot, and includes automatic layer pad insertion. The line integrates with end-of-line washing, drying and case packing, and the same articulated-arm robot can combine case packing and palletizing tasks. Each installation is designed around the product, pallet pattern and floor space available in the plant, like the rest of our cannery equipment.

How the line works

  1. 1

    Product infeed

Sealed cans or cardboard cases arrive from washing, drying or case packing on conveyors that regulate flow and build up a buffer so the palletizer can work without interruptions.

  2. 2

    Orientation and layer forming

Product is oriented and grouped according to the pallet pattern defined for each item, forming stable layers that make the best use of the pallet surface.

  3. 3

    Layer or robotic placement

A layer palletizer transfers each complete layer to the pallet, or an articulated-arm robot places cases one by one, in rows or in layers, using different gripping tools.

  4. 4

    Layer pad insertion

Cardboard or plastic layer pads are automatically placed between layers, improving load stability and protecting cans and cases from rubbing and damage during storage and transport.

  5. 5

    Full pallet outfeed

The finished pallet is conveyed to the storage or dispatch area while a new empty pallet is positioned to continue the cycle without stopping the line.

Line advantages

  • Layer or robotic palletizing depending on product and line speed.
  • Automatic layer pad insertion for stable, protected loads.
  • Flexible robot that can combine case packing and palletizing in the same cell.
  • Compact design that fits small spaces and low-ceiling buildings.
  • Full integration with end-of-line washing, drying and case packing.

Species and formats

Suitable for fish, seafood and other food canneries palletizing bulk sealed cans, finished canned goods or wraparound cardboard cases. It handles round, club, dingley or oval cans, glass jars and bundled packs, with configurable pallet patterns for each item and layer pads between layers.

Frequently asked questions

Layer palletizer or robotic palletizing?

+

A layer palletizer suits bulk cans and full layers, while a robot offers more flexibility for different case sizes and variable patterns. TACORE analyzes the product, number of items and available floor space to recommend the best option.

Can sealed cans be palletized without cases?

+

Yes. The line can palletize sealed cans in layers with pads between them, for example for intermediate storage before labeling, as well as finished canned goods and cardboard cases at the end of the line.

Can palletizing be combined with case packing?

+

Yes. The TACORE articulated-arm robot can pack cases and palletize in the same cell by changing the gripping tool, which saves floor space, reduces investment and simplifies the end of line.
