Custom robotics for canneries: robotic cells designed for each customer

No two robotic cells are alike. At TACORE we design the solution around each customer: we start from their product, container, throughput and plant space, and look for the most suitable machine for each task. With our own engineering and automation departments we can choose among different technologies, such as articulated-arm, delta, SCARA or Cartesian robots, machine vision and different grippers, and take care of the design, programming and integration into the line.

How we find the right solution

  1. 1

    We listen to the need

We start by understanding the product, the container, the required throughput, the staff and the available space. If needed, we visit the plant to see the problem in context.

  2. 2

    Engineering analysis

Our team evaluates which task is worth robotising and compares alternatives, instead of starting from a closed solution. The aim is to find the most suitable machine, not the most complex one.

  3. 3

    Choosing the technology

We decide on the type of robot (articulated-arm, delta, SCARA, Cartesian or collaborative), the gripper (magnetic, vacuum or fingers) and whether machine vision is needed, according to the product and throughput.

  4. 4

    In-house design and automation

The mechanical design of the cell and the control programming (PLC, operator panel and communication with the plant) are carried out by our engineering and automation departments, with a single point of responsibility for the whole.

  5. 5

    Safety from the concept stage

Risks are assessed and guards and safety functions, such as emergency stops, are built in, in line with the European machinery safety rules, which are being updated.

  6. 6

    Manufacturing, commissioning and training

We build the cell in Vilagarcía de Arousa, commission it at the plant, adjust the programs for each format and train the operators. Afterwards we remain available for technical assistance, including remote support.

Why a custom cell

  • A solution tailored to the product, the container and the plant, not a standard machine.
  • Several technologies to choose from, so the most suitable one is used for each task and throughput.
  • In-house engineering and automation: design, programming and integration with a single point of contact.
  • Format change and machine vision to work with several products in the same cell.
  • Safety built in from the concept stage and technical assistance after commissioning.

Applications

Loading and unloading of retort baskets and trolleys, case packing and unpacking, palletizing by rows or layers and pick and place. The same technologies adapt to other handling processes, such as the custom pick and place in the video, developed for a cheese producer.

Frequently asked questions

What does it mean for a robotic cell to be custom-made?

+

It is designed from what each customer needs: their product, container, throughput and plant space. We do not start from a closed model, but from an analysis to find the most suitable machine.

Which technologies can you work with?

+

We can choose among articulated-arm, delta, SCARA, Cartesian or collaborative robots, with magnetic, vacuum or finger grippers, and with machine vision when needed. The choice depends on the task, the throughput and the product.

Who designs and programs the cell?

+

Our own engineering and automation departments: mechanical design, control programming, integration with the line and commissioning. This gives you a single point of contact throughout the project.

How is the safety of the cell ensured?

+

It is designed with risk assessment, guards and safety functions such as emergency stops, and adapted to the European machinery safety rules, which are being renewed with Regulation (EU) 2023/1230.
