EMTyS Multi-Process Thermal Engineering Project Successfully Concluded

With the closing technical conference held on March 26, the EMTyS R&D project has officially drawn to a successful close. The initiative was selected under the competitive call of the CONECTA PEME 2018 program promoted by the Galician Innovation Agency (GAIN).

During the conference, the consortium presented the breakthrough achievements of the research program, which centered on engineering advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation tools for thermal processes, and applying them to develop a versatile multi-process machine capable of executing multiple thermal treatments for the food sector (thawing, vacuum cooking, sterilization, pasteurization, scalding, and dehydration).

As a primary milestone, two industrial prototypes were built: an analytical laboratory unit and a full-scale industrial production system. Both prototypes enable precise telemetry control over extensive thermodynamic parameters, allowing food processors to simulate and validate pilot batches before launching new canned seafood products onto commercial markets.

This project was supported by the Conecta Peme 2018 program of GAIN and co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). With an investment budget of €1.4M, the consortium was led by TACORE S.L., with active partnership from CITEGA S.L., SDEA SOLUTIONS S.L., SOLTEC INGENIEROS S.L., and the ANFACO-CECOPESCA Marine Technology Centre.
